OSTEOPATHY FOR
BABIES & CHILDREN
Osteopathy is for all age groups. This naturally also applies to children, who are in a stage of life in which internal and external influences have such a decisive effect. In no other phase of development does the organism undergo such major anatomical, physiological and psychological changes. From an osteopathic point of view, functional disorders can arise at birth that only lead to symptoms or promote certain diseases decades later. The osteopath looks for the cause of the dysfunction with the aim of restoring the affected structure to its original movement. Pregnancy and the course of the birth play a decisive role in this. The aim of osteopathic treatment is to optimally support the child in its development and to mobilize the self-healing powers of the small body and also prophylactically counteract undesirable developments.
In order to treat infants and children, it is important to know the different developmental stages of the child and to know the normal sensory, emotional and neurological development of the child and the special pediatric pathology.
Members of the Association of Osteopaths who have undergone comprehensive training in the treatment of children are marked with the symbol on the VOD list of osteopaths www.osteopathie.de/osteopathenliste are marked with the symbol.
